Many organizations have implemented Microsoft Active Directory Rights Management Services (RMS) or public key infrastructure (PKI) solutions, but have no way to enforce adoption of these technologies. Users find it difficult to remember to apply this extra level of email protection.

The Security Enabler feature simplifies PKI and RMS by automatically protecting email based on the user's classification selection.* For example, when a user selects "Confidential", the email could be protected with:

• S/MIME encryption to provide message confidentiality.
• S/MIME signing to provide message integrity and non-repudiation.
• RMS templates to provide digital rights management, such as preventing message copying, forwarding, and printing.

Users do not need to understand PKI or RMS; they simply select a label, and the appropriate protection is applied transparently. In the background, Message Classification triggers the appropriate RMS template or S/MIME protection. No further user interaction is required.

The Security Enabler feature is completely customizable by the administrator. Organizations can decide exactly which classification labels will trigger the extra level of protection.
