Microsoft SharePoint Document Library is a
popular document management and information sharing solution
that allows customers to create, edit, and upload documents,
check documents in and out, and track past versions of
documents.
For users of Microsoft SharePoint, Titus Labs Document
Classification provides additional document security and
classification capabilities. Properties created in Document
Classification can be carried over with a document into a
SharePoint Document Library. These metadata properties provide
users with more information on the sensitivity of the document
and its content, and can be used to sort or search for documents
in the library.

When a user creates a new document in Microsoft Office and
assigns classification labels using the Document Classification
product, meta properties are automatically added to the
document. Regardless of the types of labels assigned by Document
Classification (e.g. security classification, project based,
retention labels etc.) these properties can appear as columns in
a SharePoint Document Library along with the standard properties
such as Document Name, Author, Created On etc.
Once meta properties have been associated with documents,
users can sort or filter Document Libraries to find documents.
For example, if Document Classification was used to assign
security properties (PERSONAL, UNCLASSIFIED, CONFIDENTIAL
etc.), users could filter a Document Library to see all the
CONFIDENTIAL documents in the library. When these properties are
reflected in SharePoint as columns the user can make better
decisions on how to handle and distribute the document.
